Summary
A straight, single edged long sword from Eastern Tibet (Kham) called a Ke tri or Patang. The hilt has is decorated with brass and silver wire with a silver boss. 'A Ceremonial Sword (Khamba) with handle mounted with brass and silver wire; black leather sheath with brass mounts set with turquoise and coral - Tibetan (Kham)' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
