Summary

Arm-guard made of steel from the Sikh armoury at Lahore. The guard is hinged at two places so that the back can be attached; there are also two buckles at the top so that the top section can be secured. The decoration is a simple border of punched trefoil patterns. 'An arm-guard of steel - India, from the Sikh armoury at Lahore' (Christie's entry)

Provenance

Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
