Summary
The floor of the outer porch. This marks the threshold of the building. It is rectangular in shape with a semi-circular niche in its left and right hand walls. The floor is formed with sandstone flagstones from the local Shropshire quarry at Grinshill pointed with a lime-based mortar. It is open to the elements. The Regency Villa at Cronkhill was designed by John Nash in 1802 for the 2nd Lord Berwick's agent, Francis Walford. It has been called 'the architectural essence of the Picturesque movement', of which John Nash, together with Humphry Repton, was a leading exponent.

Cronkhill collection; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
