Marks and inscriptions

/The Shapwick Monster/A full true story and particular account of A Sea Monster which was seen on Badbury/Down between Blandford and Wimborne on Tuesday the 12th day of October 1686, and how it so frightened/the People that they collected themselves into a large body in order to destroy it/ (heading, then follows the story in three columns) The Story of the 'Shapwick Monster' composed/and written by a member of the Joyce family/approx 1830 (note in ink in an unknown hand, on label on reverse.
