Summary
Farrier's anvil - An iron anvil, on a freestanding sawn tree trunk. Marked on side 'BEST WARRANTED/JR'. Face (flat top surface) has circular punching hole and square hardy (tool) hole at opposide end to bick (pointed end, also known as beak). This anvil is the common London pattern. It is technically a farrier's anvil, lacking the dropped table on the bick- compare with the other anvil in the forge KLF.MC.014. The wooden block is new and the anvil has not been used since the block was installed.
