Summary
A Victorian oak semainier chest of drawers, circa 1875-1880, by Collier and Plucknett. The moulding top surmounted by a lobed and geometric inlaid gallery with a pair of spire finials and pierced rosette quatrefoil panels, with an ebonised banded edge inlaid with stringing and polka dots above a cavetto frieze carved with a border of flowers, the seven long graduated drawers surmounted by a geometric inlaid banding and each inlaid with twin pairs of chevron columns, the faceted brass handles with pierced lozenge back plates each centred by a label plaque and escutcheon, the tongue and grooved panelled sides with a pair of ebonised turned columns to the front each headed by a leaf-carved capital and ebonised fluting, below is a pair of corbel pilasters carved with flowers and united by a geometric inlaid apron.
