Summary
One of a pair of Gothic mid-Victorian hanging oak display wall cabinets, circa 1888, attributed to Laverton and Co of Bristol. The crenellated pierced tracery permits each centred by a quatrefoil and flanked by octagonal foliate carved crenellated turrets with similar tracery to the sides headed by leafy capitals, each frieze of scrolling leaf borders punctuated by rosettes above a pair of panelled glazed doors headed by pierced tracery and flower head spandrels with pierced gilt-brass strap work hinges to the sides enclosing adjustable shelves, the glazed side panels carved with pierced scrolling foliage and each centred by a shield carved with the monogram initials 'AG' (Antony Gibbs).
