Summary
Box - A metal matchbox with hinged lid and black leather bound exterior, from a mid-nineteenth century Victorian coromandel lap desk by Halstaff and Hannaford, banded in brass and inset to the cover with the initials M.B.C.(?)(NT10597.1). The interior metal face is painted green and is fitted with a hinged lid that pulls up to reveal the matches within; the lid also surmounted by a striking pad with a further hinged cover. Accompanied by a square white metal cover attached to the lid.
