Summary
A mid-nineteenth century Victorian coromandel lap desk by Halstaff and Hannaford, banded in brass and inset to the cover with the initials M.B.C.(?) It is fitted with recessed handles, the interior with a leather lined slope, and compartments for inkpot and vesta. It is further engraved with the owner's initials above a secret compartment, with two paper makers' labels.
