Summary
Commemorative plate by Spode, made to commemorate James Bateman's 21st birthday in 1832 and the views depicted were probably drawn by Bateman. Royal blue ground with scalloped, fluted and gilded rim, one central and three outer gilt edged cartouches with under glazed transfer printed scenes. Depicting Knypersley Hall (in centre), Warder's Tower in the Deer Park at Knypersley Pool, Biddulph Parish Church (St Lawrence's) and a local farm house. Cartouche of Warder's Tower is copied from a drawing of the same by James Bateman. The Warden's Tower was built for John Bateman in 1828 and may have been designed by James Trubshaw. On reverse family crest and coat of arms and Knypersley Hall / July 18th; 1832.
