Summary
Geological specimen - Jasper (red silicaceous semi-precious mineral). Blood red colour is from iron oxide in the flinty silica. Could be from west coast of Anglesey, Lleyn peninsula?
Provenance
Believed to have been recovered from the geological gallery at Biddulph by John Stanley (formerly of Keele University Geological Department) circa 1965 and donated to the Trust in 1988.
