Summary
A commemorative bone china plate for the eighth century anniversary of Wells cathedral, one of only eight hundred produced in 1982. A central feature on the white ground includes a representation of Jesus on a red background within diamond-shaped gold and yellow border and the portraits of four angels with gold, yellow and red wings surrounding the exterior of the said border. The yellow ground plate lip is edged with gold lines, one where it connects to the bowl and one along the rim, with a cross-hatched fill of green hexagonal shapes interchanging with deep red rectangles that contain pink cross-shaped floral motifs. Further decoration on the lip includes a blue coat of arms at the top and a white swan on the bottom, which holds the rope to a bell in its mouth. From within the green leather bound box (NT10404.2).
