Summary
A Victorian oak centre table, circa 1880, by Laverton (and) Co. The rectangular top with projecting moulded edge, above a frieze carved with scrolling vine leaves and grapes on a punched ground. The square legs are faceted in the gothic manner and headed by carved tablets, carved with thistles, and with corner brackets supporting the frieze carved with flowerheads. The legs are joined by a platform stretcher with incurved moulded edges with similar brackets to those supporting the frieze and with the legs carved with flowerheads at this junction. The underside bears an ivorine label reading; LAVERTON (and) Co. / UPHOLSTERERS AND / CABINET MANUFACTURERS / BRISTOL.
