Summary
Victorian silver-gilt chalice, designed by William Butterfield (1814-1900), on sexfoil base with pierced gothic trefoils and knopped stem with applied rubies, sapphires, diamonds, opals, and emeralds, the stem further decorated with panels of flowers with diamond set heads. The plain bowl has an applied band of scrolling foliage. Part of the Chapel communion set.
Provenance
Purchased from the estate of the 2nd Lord Wraxall by the National Art Collection Fund and presented to the National Trust, Tyntesfield as a gift.
