Oil painting on artist's board, Landscape near Sanary by Edmond Céria (Évian-les-Bas 1884 - Paris 1955), signed, bottom left: Ceria. Mediterranean coastal scene with olive trees, pines and a distant harbour with yachts. Céria had two one man exhibitions at Ernest Brown & Phillips, The Leicester Gallery in Januray 1930 (490) and March 1935 (601) (label on reverse), where this picture was probably acquired. Sanary sur Mer is about 49 km from Marseille and 13 km from Toulon. It is near Ollioules. Its bay is famous for its beauty and is allegedly the sunniest place in France.
According to label on reverse Ernest Brown & Phillips, The Leicester Gallery, either 1930 and 1935; [...]; acquired by National Trust with Coleton Fishacre in 1982
