Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Late Arrival by Ferdinand Roybet (Uzès 1840 - Paris 1920), signed bottom left, in black: F. Roybet. A Dutch would-be 17th-century interior, with three figures round a table covered in elaborate lace, a servant at the left; the man rising from his seat at the right has evidently just finished a plate of oysters, now on the floor, shells strewn about and is looking towards a standing man with a cane examining his watch, for whom the servant is dawing up a tapestry covered upright chair. A third man remains seated on the other side of the groaning table.
