Summary
A kingwood, tulipwood, rosewood and ormolu-mounted commode, French, circa 1740. Surmounted by a moulded serpentine variegated grey marble top, above two short and two long drawers mounted with elaborate ormolu handles and escutcheons modelled as cassolettes with pineapple finials, above a shaped apron, the sides with mirror-image veneers and line-inlaid borders, with projecting angles and large pierced mounts trailing to mounted swept feet.
