Summary
Hand sewn sack-back dress, in pink vertical striped pattterned fabric, stitched in silver thread, entwined with lace meander, overlaid with exotic flower sprays. Lined and trimmed with lace, nb. stomacher missing. Fabric and dress circa 1760, the very narrow loom width and design indicates a French provenance. Used later for Fancy Dress or theatricals with alterations and the addition of 19th century lace.
