Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Thomas Peter Strickland (1701 - 1754), English School, circa 1735 -40. A half-length portrait with oval trompe l'oeil surround; sitter wears orange jacket and blue coat. Thomas Peter Strickland (1701-54) eldest son of Walter Strickland. The elder son of Walter Strickland and Anne Salvin, and thus progenitor of the senior line of the Stricklands, which held Sizergh until 1896. Thomas was succeeded in turn by two of his sons, Walter, and Charles.
