Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lady Edeline Sackville, Lady Strickland (1870 - 1918) by Lazzaro Pisani (1854 – San Pawl il Bahar, Malta 1932), circa 1900; A half-length portrait of the daughter of Reginald 7th Earl de la Warr and 1st wife of Sir Gerald Strickland, in a pink dress with white shawl, seated, looking down, to right. Lady Edeline’s father, Reginald, 7th Earl De La Warr (1817–96), had been portrayed by Pisani – presumably in Malta – when she was six.The present portrait would appear to have been painted about a decade after her marriage to (Sir) Gerald Strickland (later Lord Strickland of Sizergh) in 1890. It looks as though it may have been cut down, which may account for the absence of any signature or date.

Given by Henry Hornyold Strickland (1890 – 1975) with Sizergh Castle and its estates in 1950
