Summary
The Angel Harp by S. Erard 1810. Bought for Lacock in 1827 and played mostly by the nanny to Fox Talbot's children, Amelina Petit de Billier Double-action pedal harp with 43 strings and Erard’s fourchette action controlled by seven pedals. No action on the highest note. The eight pedal controls the swell shutters in the back of the sound box. Soundboard painted and with gilt lines, and centre and side strips also gilded. Back of sound box, of laminated lime wood ebonised with gilt lines, Gilded neoclassical composition and gesso ornament. The capital of the fluted pillar carrying three winged caryatids, their hands linked with wreaths.
