Summary
Oil painting on canvas, London River Scene, British (English) School, 19th century. An rectangular-framed oval view of several rows of ships and boats moored up at the end of the day, presumably in a harbour on the River Thames. Two river barges with figures occupy the right foreground and a third at the left, carrying two men and cargo, sails towards a large ship with open sails and a blue ensign in the right middleground. The black smoke of a steam ship rises up against the horizon where the sun is setting in the sky.
