Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Penitent Magdalen, manner of Pier Francesco Mola (Coldrerio 1612 – Rome 1666). A circular painting of the Penitent Magdalen, comforted by cherubim, in the wilderness, leaning on a large stone on the right, on which are a book and skull; putti in the clouds above right. In this painting, attributed to the Italian artist, Fillipo Lauri, Mary Magdelen is shown in a mountain retreat, where she spent 30 years in fasting and penance.
