'Depicting Hyde Parker's small squadron with the Phoenix, in July 1776, approaching one of the forts at the mouth of the Hudson, or North River, probably the Battery on the southern tip of Manhattan island' from Dominic Serres, RA 1719-1793, War Artist to the Navy by Alan Russett, 2001. Ship on the right is the Phoenix, the ship on the left is the Rose. Name plate, incorrectly, states 'Phoenix and squadron of frigates attacking forts at Savannah during the American war. Serres'.
