Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Mrs Thomas I Hunt, English school, 18th century, after late 17th century. A half-length portrait, in a painted oval of the mother of Thomas Hunt II who married Mary Vere Robartes. She is looking to the left, head facing, wearing a brown and greyish dress edged with wide lace frill, and brown cloak. It is painted in the style of Simon Voet's beauties and is therefore a pastiche of that style.
Provenance
By descent, through the marriage of the sitter's son, Thomas II Hunt, with Mary Vere Robartes in 1719; given by Gerald, 7th Viscount Clifden (1883-1966), with the transfer of the house to the National Trust in 1953
