Summary
Oil painting on canvas,The Hon. Thomas Charles Agar-Robartes (1880 - 1915) as a Boy by John Hanson Walker (1844 – Walsall 1933), signed and dated, lower right: JHW (monogram) 1894. A three-quarter-length portrait of the 6th Viscount Clifden's eldest son, 'Tommy', as a schoolboy, whilst at Eton, in grey three-piece suit, standing in a library facing with his left hand on a table. He was killed during the First World War at the Battle of Loos in 1915.
Provenance
Given by the sitter's younger brother, Gerald, 7th Viscount Clifden (1883-1966), with the transfer of the house to the National Trust in 1953.
