A mahogany pedestal desk, English, circa 1840. With an inset leather top and three frieze drawers, one pedestal with three drawers, the other a cupboard, each on plinth.
Provenance unknown for certain, but probably acquired with the house in 1953. To be seen in a photograph of the Smoking Room taken for the NT by John Bethell in 1973.
