Summary
Oil painting on copper, Montagu Edmund Parker (1737 - 1813) by John Downman, RA (Ruabon, North Wales, 1750 – Wrexham 1824), signed and dated: J. Downman pinxit 1780. An oval portrait of the second son of John Parker and Lady Catherine Parker, daughter of the 1st Earl of Poulett. Half length to right, in pale green coat, yellow waistcoat and white stock.
Provenance
Accepted by HM Treasury in part payment of death-duties from the executors of Edmund Robert Parker, 4th Earl of Morley (1877-1951) and transferred to the National Trust in 1957
