Summary
Coralie Flower Vase, The Pottery, Fulham, London, 1930s. Cream glazed earthenware sectioned Gladdlow vase on stepped oval base. Gerard de Witt (1884-1976) for Fulham Pottery- a 'Coralie' flower vase, with fluted rim and sectional graduated stem holders. Printed Mark 'The Pottery, Fulham, London' and 'Made in England'. The Coralie range was inspired by natural forms such as coral, and this vase consists of a fluted outer shell with two further inner shells. In some designs (not this version) the internal shells were removable. These internal shells were further subdivided creating an internal 'flower brick' for placing flowers. Hotels particularly used these vases as they created dramatic arrangements, and Buckingham Palace used them for Royal garden parties.
