Summary
Oil painting on oak panel, Catherine Poley, Mrs Edward Barker (1600-1665), British (English) School, mid 17th century. Inscribed above twice with name of sitter: MRS CATHERINE BARKER / MRS BARKER Sister to LADY MAY. Inscribed on back: My Ladie Harvis picter when I am dead. Edwd Barker. A half-length portrait of a young woman, turned slightly to the right, gazing to the right, wearing an embroidered yellow stomacher over a white dress, a large lace collar and white cap edged with lace; drop pearl earrings, thin black cord with black bow, dangling from neck.

Acquired by the National Trust in 1956 under the auspices of the National Land Fund, later the National Heritage Memorial Fund.
