Summary
Oil painting on canvas and plaster, Pintura 107 by Antonio Suarez (b.1923), 1962. An abstract composition using thick moulded plaster and painted in black and rather mute colours. The use of heavy black marks in this painting are typical of Spanish art. This abstract has been produced by the use of a thick impasto and the seemingly violent handling of paint. There is an intimate union of technique and image. Suarez’s personal experiences are always an integral part of his work but he judges the human condition without emotional expression or exhibitionism. His work represents his impressions of his daily experiences.
