Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Charles Babbage, FRS (1792-1871), British (English) School, circa 1820. A half-length portrait, of the husband of the youngest daughter of William Whitemore (1745 - 1815), Georgiana Whitmore (d. 1827) whom he married in 1814 turned slightly to right, gazing to the right, seated at a desk, right, his left arm reclining on the desk on which sits an inkwell with a quill, pen and books. He has short brown hair, wearing a black coat, white shirt and stock with a black waistcoat against a red curtained background.
