Summary
Oil painting on canvas laid down on board, 'Star of Peace' passing Rennie Battery by Captain R. E. Ryder, 1880-1900. One of the larger types of Tamar barges which was built for the late Mr. Thomas Jefford on the beach opposite his quarries at Burraton Coombe, near Saltash, to ports on the South Coast e.g. West Bay, Kingsbridge, Fowey etc. It was also used for the carriage of stone and other goods to and from the quays on the River Tamar. Painted by Mr R E Ryder, who, it is understood, was a sea captain.

Bequeathed by Mrs J Griffin (granddaughter of Mr. Jefford) of Plympton, Plymouth.
