Summary

'View of Long Barn, Kent in Winter' by Mary Margaret Campbell (née Garman), oil painting on paper, about 1927. Long Barn was the home on Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson from 1915-1930.

Provenance

Mary Campbell and her husband Roy lived in the cottage next to Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson at Long Barn. Mary and Vita were lovers and it is possible that this painting was a gift. The painting was given to the National Trust with the donation of Sissinghurst by Nigel Nicolson in 1967.
