Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Maria Harriet Hesketh, Lady Palk (1826-1905) later Baroness Haldon by F. Grispini (fl. London 1863) A three-quarter-length portrait, standing, wearing a blue dress. The sitter was the only daughter of Sir Thomas Hesketh, 4th Bt, and his wife Annette Maria Bomford. On 15th May 1845 she married Lawrence Palk, son of Sir Lawrence Palk, Bt of Haldon House and his wife Anna Eleanora Wrey. He inherited the baronetcy in 1860 and was created Baron Haldon of Haldon, Devon in 1880. He was MP for South Devon from 1854 to 1868, and for East Devon from 1860 to 1880. The artist exhibited two portraits at the Royal Academy in 1863 from 51 Pall Mall.
