Summary
Marble bust of Sarah Frederica Child-Villiers, Princess Esterházy von Galántha (1822-1853) by Lawrence MacDonald (1799 - 1878). Head turned slightly to her right, shoulders bare. Signed and dated 1847 at rear. Mounted on turned marble socle. This bust is a second version of the 1845 bust of Princess Esterhazy NT 772413.1.
Provenance
Noted in the 1939 Osterley inventory, p. 42, The Lobby. Purchased from George Child-Villiers, 9th Earl of Jersey (1910-1998) by HM Government in 1949 for the Nation and vested in the Victoria and Albert Museum; transferred to the National Trust in 2002.
