A three-quarter-length portrait, turned to the left, almost left profile, he stands mortar board in left hand, wearing black and gold robes over jacket, wing collar shirt and black bow tie.

Commissioned by Astor around 1897. Recorded as hanging in Billiard Room, 1898 - see letter 8/5/89 contents; presented to the National Trust with house and grounds by Waldorf, 2nd Viscount Astor (1879 - 1952), 1942
