Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Queen Victoria (1819-1901), after Franz Xaver Winterhalter (Menzenschwand 1805 - Frankfurt am Main 1875). A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, profile to the left, gazing at the spectator, wearing a white dress and the Order of the Garter, a shawl over her hands which are crossed in front, a rose held in her left hand. The Queen was a close friend of the 2nd Duke of Sutherland and repeatedly visited Cliveden.
