Summary
Oil painting on canvas, A Rough Landscape with Figures on a Zig-Zag Path, Italian school, 17th century. Three figures walking separately, in the foreground, middle ground and in the background, up a hill on a zig-zag path with rocks and a mass trees on the right. The path climbs a hillside; near to its end, in the distance, a horseman is seen, partly concealed by a parapet.
Provenance
Probably brought from Wavendon by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare 6th Bt (1865 - 1947) and Alda Weston, Lady Hoare (d.1947) between 1894 and 1898; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946; lent by the National Trust to Mompesson House.
