Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Amelia Anne Hood (nee Bateman, 1798 - 1883), mother to Anne Elizabeth Periam Hood, Mrs George Fownes Luttrell by John Lucas (London 1807 - St John's Wood 1874), signed and dated J. Lucas 1873. Previously supposed to be (?Amelia) Anne Elizabeth Periam Hood, Mrs George Fownes Luttrell (1829 - 1917). A three-quarter-length portrait of Lady Hood standing to left in a landscape wearing a black lace shawl. Her right hand is resting on an urn of geraniums. The Acland Hood monument, an obelisk, can be seen in the distance behind her on the right.
Provenance
Previously on loan, 1975; gift of Lt -Col Geoffrey Walter Fownes Luttrell (1919 – 2007) to the National Trust in 1981.
