Summary
Black and white chalk on paper, Francis Fownes Luttrell, MP (1756 - 1823) by Richard Phelps (Porlock c.1710 - Porlock 1785). Head and shoulders, profile to right, head facing, wearing coat, waistcoat and stock, his natural hair drawn back and knotted. What appears to be an original inscription is mounted on a small piece of wood attached to the back of the frame. It reads 1777 FRAs Fownes Luttrell Esq Drawn in his Absence Rd Phelps Fecit. Francis Fownes Luttrell (1756-1823) was the son of Henry and Margaret Fownes Luttrell.
Marks and inscriptions
What appears to be an original inscription is mounted on a small piece of wood attached to the back of the frame. It reads 1777 FRAs Fownes Luttrell Esq Drawn in his Absence Rd Phelps Fecit. Francis Fownes Luttrell (1756-1823) was the son of Henry and Margaret Fownes Luttrell.
