Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Portrait of William (Bill) Farrell (1895-1971), British School (probably one of the Pitman Painters), mid 20th century(probably mid-1930s). A head-and-shoulders portrait of William Farrell in a black shirt and red tie. Farrell was Warden of the Spennymoor Settlement. He and Ruth Pennyman wrote a play together in 1944 entitled Gabriel. In 1962 Farrell and his wife moved into a flat in Ormesby Hall, where he died in 1971.
