Summary

A plastic 'Bratz, Passion 4 Fashion' doll named Cloe, in her original packaging (circa 2007). The packaging is of the moulded clear plastic 'bubble' type which would require cutting to open, so the doll has not been removed for cataloguing. The doll has moulded and painted facial features and long, blonde, straight artificial hair. She has a swivel head and is jointed at the shoulders and presumably also at the hips but it is impossible to ascertain this without removing her from the packaging. She is wearing blue denim flared trousers which have pink, blue and gold-coloured flower motifs printed on at the fronts near the hem, and an orange-pink nylon top patterned with gold-coloured ink stripes. The top is ruched at the front of the bodice, has clear plastic straps and a short flared skirt with a 'handkerchief' hem. She is also wearing large hoop earrings and a bangle, all made from plastic painted in gold-coloured paint. Her sandals, which are the same colour as her top, are moulded and painted onto her feet. She has a spare pair of feet with similar sandals in gold-coloured paint. These are displayed alongside the doll in the bubble packaging. Also packaged alongside is a large gold-coloured plastic hairbrush. There is also a spare dress which has a pink satin bodice, ruched at the front with a gold-coloured lurex gathered top piece, gold-coloured ribbon straps and a red net flared skirt which has a gold-coloured ribbon bow tied round it. The packaging is basically rectangular, made from clear plastic, with wavy font edges which taper towards the top. At the back of the packaging is a cardboard insert, colour-printed in shiny pink with a pattern of white circles and stars. Printed in white on a purple coloured cardboard insert at the bottom edge is 'The Only Girls With a Passion For Fashion!'. Printed in white on the plastic are 'Cloe' and 'Passion 4 Fashion', with 'Bratz' in gold-coloured glitter outlined in white, above which is a white halo. Also printed on the plastic are two colour images of the doll. Printed on the back of the cardboard insert is a full-length photograph of the doll in the alternative outfit (but different shoes!), along with, in white, 'Bratz, Passion/4 Fashion. Heads are Turning! Fashion is their passion, so the Spotlight is on Bratz Style!'. Printed on the insert in the base are manufacturer's details, safety information and a bar code. Attached to the top of the packaging is a bright pink plastic handle which resembles a coat hanger. Attached to each side of this is a small bow of purple ribbon.

Provenance

Purchased for the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Sue J. Fraser (Collections Assistant) in July 2007.
