A metal clockwork ostrich, painted cream-yellow and green with a red beak, red claws and black eyes. The main piece is the body which has a non-removable key in one side. Its neck pivots where it is connected to the body and its legs are attached one behind the other to the mechanism. The front leg is fixed in place but the other one slides along a flange in the base of the mechanism to allow movement backwards and forwards. The item is quite dirty but very little of the paint has chipped.
