Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Lady, possibly Jane Revell, Lady Warren (d. 1760), possibly British (English) School, mid-18th century. A painted oval half-length portrait of a young woman, seated, turned slightly to the right, her left elbow on a ledge her head leaning on her left hand, short dark hair swept back and dressed with a pink frill at the parting in the centre, wearing a pink ribboned dress with a pink ribbon tied at her neck, with white satin coat with frills at the elbow and edged with fur. She also wears a pearl bracelet fastened with a red jewel.
Provenance
Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
