Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Officer by British (English) School, mid 18th century. Painted oval. Half-length portrait of a young man, turned slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, in short powdered wig, wearing a blue uniform with red collar and gold frogging. Evidently a copy of an eighteenth century portrait.

Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967
