Oil painting on canvas, Isabella Caroline Ellison, Lady Vernon (1805-1853) by John Lucas (London 1807 – St John’s Wood 1874). A three-quarter-length portrait of a woman, almost in profile to the right, gazing to the right, standing beside a stone balustrade, wearing a brown dress and black shawl. Landscape setting, with distant horizon with trees and clouds. First wife of 5th Lord Vernon and daughter of Cuthbert Ellison.

Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
