Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lady Elizabeth Harcourt, Lady Lee (d.1811), attributed to George Knapton (London 1698 – Kensington 1778). A half-length portrait of a young woman, turned to left, gazing at the spectator, picking up her lace overdress with her right hand in order to gather pink roses, wearing a black, white lace-embroidered, dress, in her hair a ribbon, tied with a posy of flowers above her left ear. Landscape background with cloudy sky. Sister of the 2nd Earl Harcourt she married Sir William Lee 4th Bt (1726 - 1799) in 1763.
Provenance
Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967.
