Summary description
Oil painting on canvas, The Hon. Mary Cathcart, The Hon. Mrs Thomas Graham (1757-1792), after Thomas Gainsborough RA (Sudbury 1727 - London 1788). A half-length portrait of a young woman wearing a pink satin gown with feather head gear; background of dark sky. The full-length original, of which this is a reduced version copy was exhibited at RA in 1777 and is now in the National Gallery of Scotland and there is also another half-length of the same sitter, with a different arrangemnt of hands, in the National Gallery of Art, Washington, possibly painted earler in about 1775.
