Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Possibly Mary Durbin, Lady Durbin possibly by Nathaniel Hone the elder, RA (Dublin 1718 – London 1784). A portrait of a young woman, possiby actually the first wife of Sir John Durbin, Elizabeth, half-length, turned to the right, head slightly inclined and gazing at spectator her brown hair dressed with pearls, she wears a pearl necklet and drop-pearl earrings. She is dressed in a cream silk dress with cream silk bows down the front and a small lace collar around the square neckline. Mary Durbin was the 2nd wife of Sir John Durbin (1734-1814) who was the father of Eliza Durbin (1756-1822) by his first wife Elizabeth Collett. Eliza was the first wife of the Rev. Sir Abraham Elton, 5th Bt (1755-1842).
